IT'S A BUSINESS
How do you structure and manage your creative microbusiness so it’s a legitimate enterprise that at least breaks even? A range of industry professionals provide their insights, as well as leaving participants with a basic set of tools for steering the ship. This workshop will firmly embed the critical importance of having a commercial mindset to succeeding in the modern music industry.

I GET AROUND
Although a lot can now be achieved online, touring remains critically important to regional artists trying to make their mark in the Big Smoke. We explore cost-effective ways of putting together your live show across multiple cities and towns, as well as how to get people along to your show.

Digital fan engagement is as important as putting on a great live show. Both start with knowing who your audience really is, and finding novel ways to connect with them, as well as influencers that might be able to give your brand an additional push. A Digital marketing expert will discuss different approaches to creating cost-effective digital content that cuts through the social media noise.

I HEARD IT ON THE TELEVISION
Selling CDs from your merch table is a hard slog. There are other ways to make money from your recordings, like getting your songs on film, TV and videogames. This session will introduce participants to the world of sync, as well as incorporating basic information about royalties and APRA AMCOS.
