“ This is a world-class event.” – Michael Chugg (Michael Chugg Entertainment)
“ I first attended BIGSOUND in 2006 and again this year. On Both occasions I was impressed by the International potential, quality, and diversity of the live performances and by the interesting, and often compelling panels and speakers.
BIGSOUND has grown considerably over the past two years. Queensland is now set to become the major portal for newly emerging global music markets.
Sire band The Veronicas, who hail from Brisbane, are starting to break big in the U.S. which will make my stay in Brisbane even more exciting and productive.” – Seymour Stein (Sire Records)
Knives At Noon
From the deep, dark south of Dunedin soars a brand new band, initiators of the ‘doom pop’ genre, Knives At Noon.
Four musicians, a rehearsal room and a considerable knowledge of self recording has been the modus operandi to which KNIVES AT NOON have produced their label debut EP ‘Glitter Guts’, an outstanding studio recording that reverberates as loudly as their sonic live performances.
2010 was kicked off with a bang with the band playing a standout set on the indie stage at Homegrown Festival in Wellington, further a national tour and opening for Vampire Weekend’s sold out Auckland show.
Recently the ‘out of this world’ space rock video for lead single ‘Violins And Violence’ was filmed on the active volcano on White Island off New Zealand’s east coast.
To coincide with the release of new EP ‘Glitter Guts’ on September 6, ‘Knives At Noon’ will make their live debut across the ditch playing shows in Australia. The band will be prominent on the live scene back in New Zealand heading into summer then will return to the studio to work on their debut album due for release in 2011.
