In a year where streaming services are stamping their place on the consciousness of Australian music lovers, it’s timely for us to discuss the ups and downs it will have on the lives of our artists and businesses. Our panel is represented by those with hands-on experience working with the effects streaming services have had in the USA and UK. Some of them have set up shop in Australia and will play a huge part in its introduction into our music industry.

Paul Barclay is presenter, and series producer of 'Big Ideas' on ABC Radio National.

Prior to this he was presenter of 'Australia Talks'. Paul has produced countless stories for many programs on most ABC radio networks, occasionally appears on ABC TV, and when circumstances permit, produces radio documentaries for ABC Radio National’s Background Briefing.

Beth is Marketing Director at Warner Music. She’s worked in digital for over a decade starting at EMI in London, then EMI Australia, back to the UK with independent V2 Music and subsequently Universal.

Scott Bagby - Rdio (GBR)

Scott Bagby is VP Strategic & International Partnerships, essentially responsible for establishing Rdio in territories outside the US & Canada. This involves the full gamut of launching a digital music service from dealing with the labels, to finding local partners, to setting up the local entity.

Charles Caldas has been CEO of Merlin, the global Digital Rights agency since 2007. Merlin now represents the most commercially significant set of music rights outside of that held by the major labels.

Scott Cresto - Music Alternatives (USA)

Scott Cresto is the President of Music Alternatives, a synch rep company based in Los Angeles, CA. Previously, Scott was the Senior Vice President of Film & TV and A&R for Chrysalis Music where he ran the company’s sync department in charge of placing their artists’ music in film, television, commercials, video games, trailers, soundtracks and special markets; as well as signing new talent.


Steve Whilton - Last.fm (GBR)

Steve is Product Director for Last.fm. Prior to joining Last.fm, Steve headed an agency working directly with artists and labels helping them through the disruptive challenges of digital distribution and marketing. Steve has worked as a European consultant for Pandora and spent several years as Director of Digital Operations for Sony Music UK and Europe.
