Launching at BIGSOUND 2012 is a new alliance between the team at White Sky Music and Gerry McKenna’s Royalty Accounting Services. This new company offers a service to songwriters and recording artists to help track royalty entitlements and understand the different sources of potential royalty income. This discussion, followed by a Q&A, will cover how the royalty system works, tips on what to look out for when negotiating royalties with your label or publisher and common mistakes in accounting.

Tom got his start working in the music industry in 2003 as the bookkeeper at Rubber Records. From there he started helping out a few bands on the side with their bookkeeping, all the while promoting himself under the name White Sky. Paul Luczak - White Sky (AUS)

After completing a Bachelor of Accounting at Monash University, Paul spent his early 20’s working for one of the top four accounting firms before joining White Sky in 2006. By 2011 Paul had completed his CPA accreditation and joined Tom Harris as Co-Directors of the White Sky Group of Companies. Gerry McKenna’s career in the music industry started in the late 70’s working above the legendary Marquee Club in the accounts department of Charisma Records. In the 80’s Gerry worked at Mute Records and in the 90’s in royalties at The Mushroom Group.
