Big Sound Music Industry Conference hits Brisbane from July 6 – 9.

With Triple J’s Queensland Unearthed, the ROCKET showcase show, and Valley Fiesta all set to hit Brisbane next month, the focus on independent music in this state has never been stronger.

And if you’re keen to ride the wave, then July’s Big Sound Music Industry Conference in Brisbane is the one event you simply can’t afford to miss.

Over the past few years, Q Music's Big Sound has grown into one of the most respected events of its type in the country. And Big Sound 2004, to be staged from July 6 -9 at the Fortitude Valley's Judith Wright Centre, is set to be the most impressive yet.

Big Sound will feature some the best brains in the business!

While the full line-up of speakers will be announced soon, the conference will bring together some of the industry’s best brains for an event packed with workshops, seminars, roundtables and panel discussions addressing the key issues facing the music industry today.

Among those speaking at the conference will be Festival Mushroom Chairman Roger Grierson, Music Industry Piracy Investigations’ Michael Speck, and London-based Steve Johnstone from Rightsrouter, a unique new worldwide distribution network that is putting power back into the hands of artists.

Big Sound tackles the BIG issues that affect you.

This year's Big Sound will feature a huge range of workshops and seminars aimed at helping you forge a career in the music industry.

Among the other issues up for discussion during Big Sound will be:
How to make the most out of your filmclip.
The implications of downloads and free trade on independent artists.
How best to use the media to promote your music.
The tricks to sampling without being sued.
Foreign markets, what you need to have in place before you can head overseas.

Big Sound launches a state first...the Queensland Indigenous Music Yarning Circle.

In a first for Queensland, Big Sound will kick off with a special closed session on Tuesday, July 6, that will see the state of indigenous music put in the spotlight. Among the sessions on the day will be an Indigenous Contemporary Music Industry Yarning Circle which will explore the development and challenges faced by the indigenous contemporary music industry in Queensland.

As Q Music’s signature event, Big Sound provides a vital opportunity for people involved in or interested in the contemporary music industry to connect with their peers, uncover the latest music industry issues and trends, and walk out with some fresh ideas!
