Wind & Brackets
10:10 PM The Zoo, 711 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley
Wind & Brackets lyrical and musical landscape navigates its way through a mountainous terrain of dark brooding post punk intensity and danceable indie rock. A sound that draws as much influence from Sabbath and The Cure as it does from Muse and The Libertines.
Formed in 2005, the 5 piece cut their teeth on the live circuit, gaining a reputation of must see shows before releasing a digital only 2 track single Nu Nu (Za Za) in August 2007. The title track gained them national and international attention through airplay on Triple J, Triple J TV and community radio as well as on influential Los Angeles radio KCRW & Indie 103.1fm.
Having headlined shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Wind & Brackets are renowned for their energetic and frenetic live performances. The band have supported national and international acts such as Faker, Sparkadia, Art Brut (UK), The Cops, Plug-In City, Yves Klien Blue, The Boat People, Damn Arms and also won the Qld heats of the Garage 2 V Festival competition.
In July 2008, Wind & Brackets released their debut EP 'Fire in the Ocean'. The EP was produced by ARIA award winning producer Magoo (Regurgitator, Midnight Oil) and released nationally through MGM Distribution. The first track from the EP 'Break the Glass' has been getting spins on Triple J including Richard Kingsmill's influential tastemaker program '2008'.
