Isabel Pappani has had her pulse on the music industry for over a decade, when she began her career working for celebrated music video director, Marty Callner (Aerosmith, Cher, Garth Brooks, Whitney Houston). Isabel then transitioned to the music-licensing world, working at PolyGram Film & TV Music, Island Def Jam Soundtracks and then for the renowned Mushroom Records/Festival Mushroom Music (UK and Australia) catalogue, where she represented talent the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Garbage, MUSE, Zero 7, Ash and many more. She was promoted to VP of Creative at Festival Mushroom and became known for her professional and creative approach in supporting and placing international artists unknown to the US market into film and television. In 2004, Isabel went independent with her company, Undercover Tracks, and is now representing a large roster of international artists like Eskimo Joe, Borne, and Powderfinger, along with retaining the Australian Mushroom Group of Companies as clients. With a vast contact list, she continues to maintain especially close ties with industry powerhouses Fox, Disney, Warner Bros, and Sony.
Her career has seen many highlights including connecting world-famous DJ Paul Oakenfold with composer Danny Elfman for compositional theme work included in Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes. She has secured on-camera appearances for her artists (Garbage, Ash, Everclear frontman, Art Alexakis, Nikki Sixx, and The Push Stars frontman, Chris Trapper ). Her impressive placement resume includes tracks in blockbuster films like The Bourne Identity, Swordfish and Bring It On, and in television shows like, Brothers & Sisters, Grey’s Anatomy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed, CSI, The L Word, Six Feet Under, Dirty Sexy Money, Army Wives, October Road, Roswell, Private Practice, Ugly Betty, Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother and Gossip Girl. Her artists have appeared in commercial spots for Sirius Radio, Heineken, The March of Dimes, EA video games, and in on-air promos for Fox, NBC, ABC and ESPN. The CW Network’s theme song for Pepper Dennis was written by client Chris Trapper of The Push Stars, who already had other songs appear in the show.
Isabel’s foray into music supervision includes the independent film project, How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer, which premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. The independent documentary about hospice care workers, Death is Un-American, is slated to enter the festival circuit in Fall 2009. She is currently working on a series of short comedy films called Stages, based on Elisabeth Kubler-Ross’ Stages of Grief, which have been accepted to film festivals in 2009. The independent comedy Hard Breakers starring Sophie Monk will also be coming to theaters in 2009.
Isabel is currently serving on the Program Advisory Board for the Los Angeles Film School’s Film Music Recording Department, and has been a frequent panelist at both the Big Sound music Industry Conference in Brisbane, and the WAMi Conference in Perth. In 2007 she was also the keynote speaker for the annual RAAMPAGE (W.A. youth program) event, and has done various press and radio interviews about licensing Australian music in North America.
