Brisbane’s reputation as a major music hotspot has been cemented, with the biggest music event of its type staged in Brisbane – BIG SOUND - wrapping up last Friday. From Wednesday September 9th to 11th, the city was overrun by the world’s music industry, in town for three sold out days of seminars, events, masterclasses and showcase gigs.

BIG SOUND’s final day featured a packed program of high-profile speakers including keynote addresses from Australian music legend Glenn Wheatley, and respected American artist and independent music figure Robert Schneider (The Apples in Stereo).

BIG SOUND also secured its place as one of Queensland’s major events with around 1500 conference delegates and music fans flocking to the BIG SOUND Live showcase gigs each night.

In total, more than 60 of the hottest acts from around the country showcased across six Fortitude Valley venues on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Among the most talked about were Queensland’s The Middle East, Timothy Carroll, I Heart Hiroshima, and Hungry Kids of Hungary alongside Sydney’s Philadelphia Grand Jury and Perth’s Bob Evans.

Programmed for musicians, crafty promoters, innovative entrepreneurs, established organisations and music industry heavyweights alike, BIG SOUND looks to the future of a music industry going through unprecedented change.
