Sonicbids Offer $4,000 Tour Support To SXSW Bands, Grand Atlantic Receive $1,000 Travel Stipend

American organisation Sonicbids is offering a $4,000 sponsorship and a four-city tour to bands playing at the 2010 SXSW Festival. Brisbane group Grand Atlantic have been awarded $1,000 to help cover their travel expenses in getting to SXSW this year.

To qualify for the competition, bands must be playing this year's SXSW festival and be a Sonicbids member. Competitors are asked to take a short video of their 'Road to SXSW', explaining how the band members felt when they were accepted, and why they are deserving of the tour and sponsorship.

Participants then upload their video to YouTube and email the link to SonicSX@sonicbids.com . The video will be featured on the SonicSX Videos page, where more information can be found.

Brisbane alternative rock band Grand Atlantic have received a $1,000 travel stipend as part of a broad initiative that Sonicbids runs to assist independent musicians. The band will be performing at SXSW this year, for the American release of their 2009 album 'How We Survive'.

More information on Sonicbids' funding and support for independent artists can be found here.
