Q Music Provide Free Brisbane Workshops in April 2010

Q Music is thrilled to announce the first of it’s FREE Workshop series for 2010 in partnership with the Brisbane Powerhouse.

This year will see Q Music and the Brisbane Powerhouse join forces to deliver two series of music industry professional development workshops, with the first series starting in April.

All workshops are FREE and will be held on the Turbine Platform. The workshops are aimed at both aspiring and professional artists who are keen to learn more about the Music Industry and build new networks.
 

 

The event schedule is as follows:

Wednesday April 7 – Legal Presentation – Copyright and knowing your legal rights in the digital arena – co –presented with QUT Law School.
There is also the opportunity for participants to have their questions answered on the night. When you RSVP to this session – please send through your questions, and we will put them to the panel on the night.

Wednesday April 14 – Deconstructing the Dance Mix– experience a DJ/producer deconstruct a mix as well as construct one from scratch. A must for aspiring producers as well as dance/electronic music enthusiasts.

Wednesday April 21 – Industry Entrepreneurs – we get up close and personal with some of Brisbane’s music industry entrepreneurs – how they built their business and their road to success.

Facilitator – Dan Lewis
Speakers – Lawrence English (label director Room 40, promoter, media artist, composer and art curator.) Lori Lee Cash (Event promoter, director GreazeFest Kustom Kulture Festival) and Joc Curren (owner manager of The Zoo)

Wednesday April 28 – Don’t believe the hype –twittering/blogging/spamming/facebooking – what actually works in drawing you new fans and selling your music? 

Facilitator – Deb Suckling
Speakers – Stephen Green (new media specialist, former BIG SOUND programmer), Andrew McMillen (freelance music journalist) and Edward Guglielmino (a musician and blogger)
 

 

The events will be held 6:00pm to 8:00pm every Wednesday in April 2010, at the Brisbane Powerhouse Centre for the Arts, 119 Lamington Street New Farm, QLD.
