2018 Billy Thorpe Scholarship

Applications are now open for Arts Queensland's annual $10,000 Billy Thorpe Scholarship. Queensland musicians have the opportunity to record with an established producer and to meet with and receive advice around career planning from a representative from Chugg Entertainment. Applications close Jan 21.

The Queensland music community is now invited to enter their songs in the 2018 Queensland Music Awards, with submissions officially opening today. Artists can enter their songs in a wide range of categories from pop and rock, to blues / roots, electronic / dance and soul / funk / R’n’B with the full list of categories and awards available on the brand new QMAs website www.queenslandmusicawards.com.au

2017 Grant McLennan Fellowship Finalists

QMusic is pleased to announce the top four finalists of the 2017 Grant McLennan Fellowship: Harriette Pilbeam (Hatchie), Jeremy Neale, Sabrina Lawrie and Tom Cooney. Congratulations to the Queensland-based songwriters who are now one step closer to receiving a $25,000 fellowship to travel to New York, London or Berlin. The 2017 winner will be announced at a ceremony to be held at The Triffid in Brisbane on December 1. The event is open to the public and will feature special performances from the four finalists.

Brisbane turned on an absolute stunner for Valley Fiesta on the weekend, and our lineup of artists for the Queensland Music Awards Showcase turned out some amazing performances! Morning Harvey, Zapéd, Moreton and Sarah Frank brought the vibes to the Brunswick Mall Main Stage, while 2017 Song of the Year winner Amy Shark was honored with a plaque on the #ValleyWalkofFame.
