Q Song 2009 Finalists Announced

Q Music is thrilled to announce the finalists for Q Song 2009. Judges have faced an enormously difficult task with almost 2200 songs entered in Q Song 2009, almost 800 entries more than in 2008. Each song was judged anonymously (track title only) by a team of dedicated music industry representatives from The Courier-Mail, triple j, ABC, 989 fm, Musicadium, JMC Academy, dew-process, 4zzzfm, Time Off, Australian Institute of Country Music, QUT and APRA.

BIG SOUND SHOWCASING ARTISTS, THE APPLES IN STEREO'S ROBERT SCHNEIDER & TRIPLE J UNEARTHED COMPETITION

Some of the most exciting new artists from around the globe will be converging on Brisbane this September with the BIG SOUND Music Industry Summit announcing the first group of showcasing artists. Performing and speaking at BIG SOUND will be acclaimed US musician/producer and all round music guru, Robert Schneider. BIG SOUND is also proud to announce that one Australian act will have the chance to showcase at the event through national radio Triple J’s Unearthed initiative.

OZCO ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER ARTS BOARD GRANTS CLOSING SOON

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts board supports practicing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professional artists and artsworkers through a range of grant categories. These grants help artists and arts organisations to create new work, present their works in exhibitions, develop their skills and much more. Applications close on 15 July 2009.

SOUND TRAVELLERS TOURING GRANTS TO CONTINUE IN 2010

After two very successful years of touring and promoting the genre’s of sound art/electronica, contemporary classical and improvised jazz, Sound Travellers has received extra funding from the Australia Council for the Arts to support a third year in 2010. Applications for funding close 21st of September 2009.

SONG TRAILS PRESENTS WORKSHOPS FROM AUSTRALIAN SONGWRITING ROYALTY

Presented as part of Queensland Music Festival, Song Trails gives aspiring singer songwriters the opportunity to tap into a wealth of experience from some of Australia’s leading musical masters. A series of free workshops from 27 – 31 July at various venues throughout Central and Southeast Queensland seeks to unearth the musical gems that lie scattered around our great State.
