Music Action Plans (MAPs)

A MAP is Q Music’s Music Action Plan or personalised music career support service.

Q Music develops a personally tailored Music Action Plan for you by arranging for a current highly experienced music industry professional to peruse your personal details, meet with you to discuss them further and put together a plan with you.

MAPs are conducted by a senior Q Music Officer or equivalent music industry professional. Q Music will work in consultation with you to ensure the person conducting your MAP has the relevant skills and knowledge you need to access.

At the conclusion of the MAP you have a list of short-term goals and actions which may include information on resources, contacts, support mechanisms and funding appropriate to you and your specific queries. You can view and update your secure online information at any time at no cost. You may also register to complete another MAP at any time.

Q Music has supported hundreds of music industry people with its MAP service since 2000. Find out how to turn your music industry dreams into reality and walk out with some real music career goals to pursue.

What are the different types of MAPs available to suit me?
You can do Individual or Group, Standard or Advanced MAPs depending on your situation. There are four types of MAPs:

Standard Individual MAP
Standard Group MAP
Advanced Individual MAP
Advanced Group MAP

Standard or Advanced MAP
Q Music provides two levels of MAPs – Standard and Advanced. We highly recommend you complete a Standard MAP before booking an Advanced MAP. Many people are highly satisfied by completing numerous Standard MAPs and have still have no need for an Advanced MAP.

What is an Advanced MAP?
Advanced MAP meetings cover issues such as in depth business and marketing plans, tour development, legal and financial strategies. We recommend completing a Standard MAP before doing an Advanced MAP.

Individual or Group MAP?
An 'individual MAP' is only for one person and is designed to focus on the career of that person, not of any band, business or group they are also involved in. Any group, organisation, band, collective or business with more than one person (herein referred to as a 'group') that wants to do a MAP must register for a 'group MAP'. Any member of a group can register that group for a group MAP. You will need to supply a small amount of information about the other group members in the Registration process so that they can contribute their part of the MAP Data form.

How long does a MAP take?

Completing the online MAP Data form may take half an hour or even two hours depending on how much detail you go into. Make sure you save the information as you go.

The actual face-to-face or phone Standard MAP meeting appointment is between 45 minutes and an hour. An Advanced MAP meeting is 90 minutes.

The whole MAP process, starting with reading this information and finishing with your new private online Music Action Plan could take weeks or months depending on how you pace yourself and how resourceful you are and chance - likewise implementing your Music Action Plan could take days or years.
