Queensland's music industry development association seeks a General Manager to take our operations to the next level! Manage the operations of a rapidly growing music industry business and be part of a positive, hard-working and inclusive team culture. Perfect for a music events management and marketing generalist who loves data!

QMusic is a rapidly growing organisation. We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified events management and marketing generalist to assume responsibility for the operational management of QMusic in the following capacities:

  • Event management of our signature events - BIGSOUND / Queensland Music Awards
  • Creating and overseeing an annual operational plan in response to the organisation's strategic plan
  • Managing the organisation's budget in conjunction with the QMusic Executive Officer
  • Implementing a formal process of continuous improvement based on financial and social media analytics
  • Improving the quality of operational reporting to the Executive Officer
  • Direct management of the Marketing Manager, Operations Manager and the Financial Administrator
  • Where necessary, appearing on behalf of the QMusic Executive Officer at meetings and events

QMusic prides itself on cultivating a positive, hardworking and inclusive culture, and this role will be essential to ensuring that our desired culture continues to be embedded as the organisation grows. The ideal person will look something like the following:


  • Ideally, qualifications in event management, marketing or finance


  • Minimum 5 years events management experience leading the delivery of large scale, complex logistical events.
  • Demonstrable experience successfully managing the financial affairs of an organisation
  • Management, planning and facilitation in the music, arts or related industry;
  • Experience in the music industry
  • Experience working directly with corporate sponsors in a music events context is highly regarded
  • Experience contributing to the reform of organisations is also highly regarded

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the principles of events management
  • Advanced Excel skills (must love spreadsheets)
  • High level of financial acumen
  • Advanced understanding of operational planning and continuous improvement
  • A solid understanding of digital marketing and how to use analytics to improve and develop services and products is highly regarded

  • Established networks, or the ability to establish networks in the music industry, business and government sectors;
