US Chart Success for QLD Songwriter

23-year-old Queenslander Azure (real name Ash Waterman) has been storming the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, with debut single Too Late climbing to #22 this week.

Ascending from it’s #26 position last week, the track has overtaken singles from artists like N*E*R*D ft. Rihanna, Demi Lovato and P!nk.

"I am completely overwhelmed by how Too Late is doing," Waterman told The Music.

"I'm surprised, I'm shocked and I am so grateful. People dream that this happens in their life time, but on their debut single it hardly seems likely.

"I'm putting it down to how incredible my team is and how unwavering the support of my family is, oh and luck. LOTS of luck."

Waterman teamed with Grammy-nominated songwriter, Bryan Todd (Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus), and Vanessa Campagna to co-write the up-tempo dance track.

"I felt Too Late was an anthem from the moment Azure, Vanessa and I wrote it” Todd said.

"I'm really happy how it's performed so far and believe it can be a hit for the global music market.

"I could tell Azure was someone who knew what she wanted when I was introduced to her in the fall of last year. We had immediate chemistry and began collaborating on new music for her debut EP."

Waterman is currently splitting her time between Australia and the US while working on the upcoming EP.

Too Late, which hits Australian airwaves this week, was also the third most-requested song in over 58 nightclubs across the US upon its release last month and peaked at #2 on the Billboard's Breakout chart. Check out the video below.

The track also caught the attention of Grammy Award-winning producer and DJ, Dave Aude (Bruno Mars, U2, Katy Perry), who dropped his own remix.
