Q Song 2010 entries closed; Judges faced with a difficult task

Queensland’s annual hunt for songwriting excellence has closed with judges now facing the difficult task of going through more than 1600 songs entered in this year’s Q Song Awards.

Over the past five years, the awards have attracted more than 8000 entries with Queensland songwriters continuing to impress judges with the high quality of entries.

Over the next month, judges from around the country will select four finalists in each category, with the winners announced at the gala awards night on Tuesday, August 10 (Ekka holiday eve) at one of Brisbane’s finest venues, The Tivoli Theatre.

The awards night will be hosted by 612 ABC Brisbane’s Richard Fidler and triple j’s Sarah Howells with performances on the night from a host of established and emerging songwriters including the legendary Kev Carmody.

Tickets on sale from June 30 through the Q Song website and the Q Music office.

Finalists will be announced on June 30. The Courier-Mail People’s Choice voting begins on July 3 with members of the public given the chance to vote to win.
