Applications are now open for the 2016 Backbone 2high Festival of Art, Science and Ideas - VITAL SIGNS. To be held 15-17 January 2016, the Music program is encouraging applications from Solo/Duo acoustic musicians, Bands & Composers/Music Ensembles.  It's more than just a typical gig. The program seeks to facilitate creative collaborations between artists of different mediums, and also allow artists to present a new performance/work.  Applications close August 30

Grant McLennan Fellowship Applications Open

Applications are now open for the 2015 Grant McLennan Fellowship. For the last eight years Queensland musicians have been vying for the prestigious $25,000 Fellowship which offers the recipient an opportunity to travel to New York, London or Berlin for up to six months and use the experience of being immersed in a foreign and vibrant musical culture to further develop their own artistic skills. Applications close on August 31

RELEASE: Help For Indie Label Owners

Independent label owners from both sides of the Tasman are encouraged to apply for this special program deisgned to provide labels with practical business guidance. RELEASE will incorporate two residential labs over a period of six months and enlist the help of advisers/mentors from within and outside the music industry. Applications close 25 September 2015.

Regional Arts Development Fund

If you're a Gold Coast artist, or business with some big ideas, Arts Queensland and Gold Coast Council would like to hear from you.  They are looking to provide support to innovative one-off projects that align to the Culture Strategy 2023. Grants of up to $10,000 for artists to develop their artistic practice, networks, business acumen and increase their professional profile are also available through this latest round.

Introducing The Smoky Dawson Foundation Grant

Young Queensland singer/songwriters aged 12-25 are invited to apply for up to $2,000 through the Smoky Dawson Foundation. The Foundation aims to help young and aspiring members of the Australian music industry and was established as a perpetual memorial to one of Australia’s greatest composers and founders of country music in Australia. Application are open until mid-September.
