Two brilliant Queensland talents have been announced as finalists in this year’s National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMA). Tia Gostelow and Emily Wurramara are both up for the prestigious New Talent of the Year Award, with Wurramara also a contender for Song of the Year at the 2017 event, which will take place at the Darwin Amphitheatre on August 12.
Gold Coast producer Paces will join Republic Records; the US record label home to huge names including Drake, Lorde and The Weeknd, his Aussie representatives etcetc have announced.
Turn Up, the Sunshine Coast’s Music Industry Conference, has unveiled a list of live music acts who’ll be playing the 2017 event. In addition to its impressive lineup of speakers, ticket holders will be treated to performances by rising stars Nicole McKinney, Mason Hope and Doolie.
Little BIGSOUND returned bigger and better than ever, with the 2017 event taking over The Edge, SLQ last Saturday, July 29. With a huge lineup of speakers including Brisbane indie-pop darling Airling and electronic maestro The Kite String Tangle and a free all ages gig headlined by Sunshine Coast songstress Ayla, it was a massive day of learning, networking and fun.
AUG 9: the latest in BEMAC’s series of free workshops, Get Prep’d: Get Training, will be held at the Queensland Multicultural Centre. The series is designed to assist arts business and provide them with the necessary tools and techniques to be efficient, up-to-date and relieve the stress of this sometimes daunting part of the industry.
