Grant McLennan Fellowship Recipient 2017

Brisbane singer-songwriter Jeremy Neale is the winner of the prestigious $25,000 Grant McLennan Fellowship for 2017! The announcement was made at a ceremony held at The Triffid in Brisbane Friday Dec 1, in front of special guests and music-lovers, as well as artists, musicians, producers, partners and key music industry personnel. Check out photos we've just received of Hannah Macklin's legacy item!

BIGSOUND Wins Best Live Music Event at NLMAs

BIGSOUND was named Best Live Event in Australia and Best Live Event in QLD at the National Live Music Awards last week. Following on from her wins at the ARIAs, Amy Shark won Best New Act also for the National categories making the sunshine state proud! Congrats to Violent Soho and The Triffid for their wins in the state-based categories. QMusic would like to thank the venues, volunteers, and partners that make BIGSOUND Festival possible.

New Song Of The Year Prize

In a coup for songwriters, the 2018 Queensland Music Awards Song Of the Year winner will receive a promotional prize pack worth $20,000 courtesy of The Music & NOVA 106.9 to assist with momentum. Entries for the 2018 Queensland Music Awards close January 21.

New Women's Governance Scholarships

The Institute of Community Directors has partnered with the Women's Leadership Institute Australia (WLIA) and offering $1000 scholarships for women towards Diploma of Business (Governance) enrolments. Applications close Dec 20.  This is an exciting scholarship opportunity designed to increase women's participation on community boards, right around Australia.

2018 Billy Thorpe Scholarship

Applications are now open for Arts Queensland's annual $10,000 Billy Thorpe Scholarship. Queensland musicians have the opportunity to record with an established producer and to meet with and receive advice around career planning from a representative from Chugg Entertainment. Applications close Jan 21.
