History
From 2006 – 2010 the annual Q Song Awards received close to 8000 entries and highlighted some fantastic Queensland talent including winners such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Kev Carmody, Bernard Fanning, The Grates, Hungry Kids of Hungary, emma louise, My Fiction, The John Steel Singers and many, many more.
In 2011, after 5 years of Q Song, it was time to step up to the Queensland Music Awards. The inaugural Queensland Music Awards saw new category additions including Album of the Year, Most Popular Male, Most Popular Female, Most Popular Group and the Export Achievement Award.
The format also changed to a sit down event at new venue The Old Museum – which was a hugely successful sold out event.
The awards ceremony has grown to be the largest of its kind in Queensland with music industry identities and music fans in attendance each year.
The Queensland Music Awards continues the Q Song legacy of recognising excellence in songwriting and musicianship and further provides a platform for artists to catapult their careers onto a national stage.
