Q SONG 2009 ABC REGIONAL FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

Q Music is thrilled to announce the regional finalists for the ABC Q Song Regional Award. Judges have faced an enormously difficult task with almost 2200 songs entered in Q Song 2009 and almost half of those coming from regional Queensland.

Each song was judged anonymously (track title only) by a team of dedicated music industry representatives.

“Judges were once again overwhelmed by the enormous talent of regional Queensland songwriters and the high quality of entries” Executive officer Denise Foley said.

The winners will be announced at the 4th annual Q Song Awards night to be held at The Tivoli, August 11, 2009. Tickets for the event are on sale and are available from www.qsong.com.au.

Tickets are $20 for Q Music members, students and concession card holders and $30 for non-members. Ticket price includes finger food. A limited amount of tickets are available to the public for the event. Doors Open at 6pm for a 7pm start and the event concludes at 10pm.

Winners of all categories will be announced on the night. The evening will be hosted by 612 ABC Brisbane’s Richard Fidler and Sarah Howells from triple j.

Q Music is thrilled to announce guest performances from Award winning artist Mark Sholtez, alt country crooners Texas Tea, Far North Queensland Indigenous roots masters Zennith, purveyors of indie pop The Boat People, those starving boys from Hungry Kids of Hungary, 2008 Primary School winner Jazz D’Arcy and last year’s multi award winning James Grehan.
