Queensland’s annual search for the state’s finest songwriters will kick off next March when the 2010 Q Song Awards  opens for entries. 

Now in its 5th year, Q Song has grown to be one of the premier events on the QLD music industry calendar.

Entrants in Q Song 2010 will have the opportunity to not just showcase their songs, but share in $35,000 worth of cash and prizes aimed at building their music careers.

Past Q Song winners include Kate Miller-Heidke, The Boatpeople, The Bee Gees,The Grates, The John Steel Singers, Robert Foster, Kev Carmody, Bernard Fanning, Ben Salter (The Gin Club), Kate Bradley, Jackie Marshall, Tim Steward, James Grehan, 8 Ball Aitken,Timothy Carroll and many more.

Songwriters will be able to enter a number of categories, including rock, pop, jazz, blues and roots, folk/ballad, world, punk, Indigenous, hip –hop, alternative and many more. While Q Song principally targets emerging songwriters who own and control their own songs, those with established songwriting careers will also be eligible for the Published Song of the Year Award.
