Your chance to perform at the UK 's Great Escape Festival 2009

Queensland artists are being given a rare opportunity to perform at one of the United Kingdom 's biggest music festivals, The Great Escape 2009.

Considered Europe 's leading new music festival, The Great Escape 2008 will be staged in Brighton (UK) from May 14-16 and feature 200 bands across 25 venues.

And Q Music, supported by the Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland and Trade Queensland is giving two Queensland artists the chance to perform at this major event.

Applications open next Tuesday 18 th November 2008. Due to the short lead time for this opportunity artists can ONLY submit for The Great Escape 2009 online at this location.

Great Escape Festival 2009 Application processing fee:

• $11 Non Q Music Member
• Free for Q Music Members

But artists keen to make the most of this opportunity must act quickly with applications closing 5pm on Wednesday 26 th November .

All applications must address the following Selection Criteria.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Due the nature of this project, a focus on the United Kingdom marketplace and audience demographic is essential.

Submissions must meet all of the following criteria to qualify:

• Act must be based in Queensland (i.e. must have a registered business name and/or mailing address in Queensland );
• High quality original music
• Commercially released and distributed CD(s); and
• Have strong management team and/or record label support.

The following credentials will be considered in Artist selection:

• Quality music/recordings
• Touring experience in domestic market and/or overseas
• Career history and developments/achievements in domestic market and/or overseas
• Radio airplay
• Music video clip
• Press exposure

Demonstrated export readiness – established profile/audience in Australia ; well developed plan/strategy and clear objectives for the international marketplace.

From the initial round of applications, ten artists will be short listed and notified by Wednesday 3 rd December 2008 .

If you are shortlisted artists will then also be requested to submit 3 hard copies of each of the following to Q Music office by Monday 8 th December 2008 :

• Full Contact details - including all artist/management/label contact info rmation, website address and fan site details (e.g. Myspace page etc).
• Management profile – bio or CV.
• Biography, including photo and band history, and touring/performance history
• Press kit, including all industry/street press, and details on radio airplay
• Master Quality EP and/or LP
• Music video clip on DVD; and where possible
• Recordings of live performance

The final two selected artists will be notified by Great Escape organisers in February 2009.
