QMusic is dedicated to working with and on behalf of the Queensland music industry to support its growth and development. According to a 2014 study by the University of Tasmania, the net benefit of live music in Queensland alone is $1.9B.
QMusic works closely with government at the local, state and federal level to ensure the value of the music economy is well understood and taken into account during the creation of relevant legislation. We do our best to keep the lines of communication between industry and government open.
Every September, BIGSOUND brings industry players from around the world to do business with Queensland music businesses. About $3m is spent in Fortitude Valley over BIGSOUND’s 4 days and nights. QMusic has been pivotal to the development of many innovative partnerships that have supported the development of the national music industry, including Virgin Australia’s ongoing commitment to providing excess musical instrument baggage to touring musicians.
The Queensland Music Awards not only celebrates songwriters, but also the broader contributions of events, venues and industry players that make Queensland music tick. The QMAs are a chance for the whole industry to come together in community and bask in the glory of its achievements.
Emerging industry practitioners are also essential participants in the Industry Connect program that we operate across metropolitan and regional Queensland.
