QMusic has 5 passes to see 'GURRUMUL', the documentary about the life of Dr G Yunupingu, to give away to our subscribers.

Gurrumul's posthumous album Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow) recently made history, becoming the first album sung in an Indigenous language to top the ARIA charts.

The film traces his remarkable life from being born blind on Elcho Island in East Arnhem Land through to the intricate and often torturous making of Djarimirri which combines traditional songs and chants with devilishly difficult orchestral arrangements.

About five years in the making by director Paul Damien Williams, it reveals the struggles Gurrumul and his Skinnyfish records collaborators Michael Hohnen and Mark Grose faced in taking his prodigious and unique talents to the world.
