Queensland Music Awards

The QMAs recognise the diverse people and places that make contemporary popular music an invaluable part of our state's cultural heritage.

We invite all Queenslanders to celebrate the artists, industry leaders, festivals and live music venues that keep the joy of music alive in our communities.

Artists from all over the state in a number of categories are recognised each year for their songwriting and musical excellence. The Grant McLennan Lifetime Achievement Award recognises artists and industry who have made a lifetime contribution to Queensland Music.

The awards are judged by music industry professionals from all over the country and finalists and winners have the chance to catapult their careers into national significance.

Winning a QMA is a key milestone in the career of many successful Queensland artists.

2018 entries open November 23, 2017 - January 21, 2018.

Over 11,000 songs have been submitted for judging since the inception of the QMAs in 2006 (then known as 'QSong'). Regional Queensland artists have had a disproportionate level of success over the years, proving that our brightest talents are spread far and wide.

The QMAs have spotlighted or unearthed a pantheon of Queensland music greats, including Kate Miller-Heidke, Bernard Fanning, The Grates, Hungry Kids of Hungary and Emma Louise. They've also recognised the chart-topping success of artists like Keith Urban and the Veronicas, and the lifelong contributions of the Bee Gees, Carol Lloyd, Ed Kuepper and Grant McLennan.

Each year, the QMA Song of the Year is immortalised in a plaque on Fortitude Valley's Walk of Fame in the Brunswick Street Mall. 2018 will see another 29 award winners enter Queensland music history. We invite you to be part of this special night.

The 2018 Queensland Music Awards presented by Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds, Hutchinson Builders and Mountain Goat Beer is produced by QMusic with support from APRA AMCOS.

The 2018 Queensland Music Awards will be held at its new home, the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds on May 14, 2018.
