QMusic Board Announces AGM Outcomes & Commences CEO Recruitment

The Chair of QMusic, Jake Challenor, today announced key outcomes from the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 16 June 2026, alongside the commencement of a formal process to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Challenor confirmed that members endorsed a number of governance measures designed to support QMusic’s ongoing growth and evolution.

“We are pleased to welcome Brett Gibson and Ella Petite as new Directors of QMusic, and to confirm the reappointment of Jacqui Wirth to the Board,” Mr Challenor said.

Together, they bring valuable skills and fresh perspectives that will strengthen the Board as we continue to support Queensland’s music industry.”

Mr Challenor also acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Directors Barton Green and Vivienne Mellish, who stepped down at the AGM.

“We thank Barton and Vivienne for their dedication and service to QMusic. Vivienne’s leadership as Past President has been particularly significant, and both have made a lasting contribution to the organisation.”

Members also voted to ratify QMusic’s new Constitution, marking a key milestone following the transition to a Company Limited by Guarantee in February 2026. Members also appointed PKF as auditors for the 2026 financial year.

“These outcomes reflect our commitment to best-practice governance and ensuring QMusic is well-positioned for the future,” Mr Challenor said.

Mr Challenor confirmed that the Board has now commenced a national search for QMusic’s next Chief Executive Officer.

“The recruitment of our next CEO is a critical step in QMusic’s next phase,” he said.

“To ensure a rigorous and independent process, we have engaged executive search firm u&u Recruitment Partners to lead the campaign.”

The role is now being taken to market, with enquiries managed exclusively by u&u.

“QMusic has strong momentum, a clear strategic direction, and an important role to play in supporting Queensland’s music ecosystem,” Mr Challenor said.

“We are focused on appointing a leader who can build on this foundation and guide the organisation into its next chapter.”
