#About QMusic

QMusic is the peak body for Queensland’s music sector, a not-for-profit dedicated to securing the future of an industry that delivers artistic, cultural, social and economic value to Queensland.

With ongoing funding commitments from the state and federal government and partnerships with local government authorities across our state, we run a series of programs and events focused on building community, industry capacity, market growth and artistic development.

We provide powerful platform events to showcase Australian talent to audiences here and around the globe, all the while acting as a key advocate for the sector and investing in the grassroots of music across our state.

Key events include BIGSOUND, the largest music industry event in the southern hemisphere, the Queensland Music Awards, our state-wide skills and capacity building program QMusic Industry Connect, Queensland Parliamentary Friends of Music, as well as festivals including Valley Fiesta, and awards such as the Billy Thorpe Scholarship, the Grant McLennan Fellowship, the Carol Lloyd Award and the Dennis ‘Mop’ Conlon Scholarship.

First Nations Project Officer

The First Nations Project Officer works as an integral part of the QMusic Operations & Projects department, collaborating with the Programs Manager and liaising with a framework of First Nations advisors to coordinate and deliver First Nations music projects, events, and initiatives across Queensland. This role combines strong project management and event planning skills with authentic community engagement, ensuring First Nations voices, culture, and perspectives are embedded meaningfully across QMusic’s work. This includes supporting First Nations artist participation in BIGSOUND, the Queensland Music Awards, and other QMusic programs.

Regional Arts Advisor (Music)

QMusic has been appointed as a Service Provider as part of the Regional Arts Services Network (RASN) – a Queensland Government initiative, delivered through Arts Queensland. As part of this network, QMusic will employ a Regional Arts Advisor (Music), to provide support and advice for regional artists and arts workers in Queensland’s music industry, to achieve sector growth and development goals and build capacity.

The Regional Arts Advisor (Music) directly supports the delivery of RASN services by providing specialist music industry knowledge and experience, and by working collaboratively with the QMusic team and other RASN service providers to deliver high-quality, consistent, and client-focused support. The role provides both in person and virtual services, delivered locally and statewide through online systems.

QMUSIC acknowledges the many Traditional Custodian groups all across what is now referred to as Queensland. We pay our respect to all elders: past and present. As a peak body we also acknowledge the important role that music has played and continues to play on these lands since the very first sunrise.
