People’s Choice Awards voting now open & tickets on sale!

Today QMusic has revealed the finalists for the 2024 Queensland Music Awards, the state’s premier event in celebration of its finest music makers. Cub Sport, Jem Cassar-Daley and The Jungle Giants are among those honoured with a nomination for this year’s ceremony, set to be held on Wednesday 17 April at the Fortitude Music Hall in the heart of Brisbane’s live music district.

This year, over 70 artists have the opportunity to win across 25 categories and solidify themselves as the Sunshine State’s best and brightest. Ranging from legacy artists like Busby Marou to rising star FELONY., the ever-fierce competition will see the industry flock to Fortitude Valley for an evening that promises to be filled with epic performances, huge wins, and opportunities to mingle with your fellow music lovers.

Nominated in two categories, Cub Sport will go up against fellow Queensland sweethearts Hatchie, Jem Cassar-Daley and Jude York in the Pop category, and again in Electronic versus 1tbsp, The Jungle Giants and Young Franco.

"It is a true honour and privilege to be a finalist in the Queensland Music Awards for 2024!” says Pop finalist Jem Cassar-Daley, “I look forward to this event every year, being able to celebrate the crazy amount of talent we have in our state and catch up with great friends while doing it! It makes me so incredibly proud to be a part of such an inclusive and supportive music community, one that is worth celebrating."

Joining Busby Marou in the Blues/Roots nominations are Karl S. Williams, Kevin Borich and Kurilpa Reach, while Nebzy, Ozi Jarel, PAULSN and Sachém were chosen for best Hip Hop.

Bundaberg’s finest, DZ Deathrays, are front and centre in the Heavy music category, alongside Caligula's Horse, These Four Walls and Wildheart, with Minor Gold, Pat Tierney and Ziggy Alberts in the running for best Folk.

Country music’s most outstanding of last year are decidedly Hayley Marsten, James Johnston, Melody Moko and Tori Forsyth, while Busby Marou, Djarraway, Eleea and Tia Gostelow are contenders in the Indigenous category.

More than 100 music industry minds have voted for the 2024 QMA finalists, which also include the Contemporary Classical & Music For Stage, Children’s Music, Jazz, Music For Screen, Rock, Soul/Funk/RnB, World, Youth, and Video categories.

Voting has also opened for the People’s Choice Awards, presented by Oztix and The Music. Punters are invited to have their say and vote for their favourite festival and venues. Powered by TheMusic.com.au voting is now open and will close midnight 13 March 2024.
